We will open the doors for lunch at our expanded snack bar at noon and the scrumptious sweets in the ballroom will be ready for consumption at 1:00 pm.

New this year is a celebrity judge who will select his/her favorite dessert. Think you have what it takes? Contact Donna Bussey to sign up as a dessert vendor. (dbussey@citymission.org)

In addition to the fabulous desserts, live entertainment will be introduced by our wonderful Master of Ceremonies, Ron King. Kids Korner this year will again feature face painting, two caricature artists and wonderful crafts for children.

The auction area will feature over 40 baskets chocked full of many wonderful items – something for everyone!

If you would like to volunteer for this wonderful event please contact Cortney Brock, our volunteer coordinator (cbrock@citymission.org). Cortney has partnered the Washington City Mission with Disney’s Give a Day, Get a Disney Day Program. During the last few days of October, the Washington City Mission launched our new and improved website and blog. We are very excited for the response, we have more hits than ever, and we are making new friends left and right!

We originally designed this blog to be an enlightening, up-to-date source of information about the daily and ongoing operations at the Washington City Mission. We also hoped that it could become a forum for our donors, volunteers, supporters, and graduates to have conversations about homelessness, its effects on our community, and what we can do to change it.

To get the conversation started, I have a few questions that I’d like to ask. What do you think of the new site? What improvements would you still like to see? We want to make our site as friendly as possible, so let us know what you think.

Keep checking back, you’ll be hearing from employees from all over the mission!

Becky
Associate Director for Information Technology and Web Design
